As vice president and partner of Leonard and Martens, LLC, Wilson works with the team to advise and serve clients. He believes consistent planning and applied actions compounded over the years can help bring clients closer to fulfilling the important goals in their lives.
“We serve Alaskans primarily,” Wilson says. “Many are small business owners, others are dentists, doctors, accountants, lawyers, teachers or public employees. It is my sincere desire to find the right strategies – not necessarily the easy strategies – for all of our clients.”
As a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, Wilson holds one of the most respected financial planning credentials and the recognized standard of excellence in personal financial planning. When it comes to planning, he has specific goals in mind for clients – to understand their financial plan, take action based on the plan, and enjoy the results throughout retirement.
Wilson joined Leonard & Martens as an intern in 2011 while he continued his education. After graduating with honors from the University of Alaska Anchorage, Wilson joined the team full time as a paraplanner. Since then, he has worked his way through the ranks of paraplanner, financial planner, director of operations, VP, and now, Partner.
“I was attracted to financial planning because it fills a need,” Wilson says. “It helps people take meaningful action toward their goals.”
Volunteering is another priority in Wilson’s life. He has served a full-time mission in Barcelona, Spain, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and volunteered as a Boy Scout Master through his church’s youth program, which earned him the Boy Scout’s District Award of Merit. He currently serves as an adult leader in his church’s youth program, teaching lessons, leading activities, conducting youth leadership training and chaperoning when needed.
Wilson was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, where he lives today with his wife and four children. In his free time, he enjoys camping, rafting, biking, woodworking and spending time with his family.
